Cheese Cracker Buttons


1 tbs water
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbs sugar
1/4 tsp cayenne
1 1/2 cups flour
8 oz finely shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup unsalted butter

Combine cheese and butter in food processor, pulse until blended. Add flour, sugar, salt and cayenne, pulse until mixed. Add water, pulse until mixture forms a dough.  Turn dough out onto a surface and knead until smooth. Form into a ball, divide in half, and shape each half into an 8″ log. Wrap each in plastic wrap, refrigerate 2 hours.  Heat oven to 375 degrees. Spray 2 baking sheets with cooking spray. Remove dough logs from refrigerator, slice into 1/4″ disks and place on baking sheets. Prick top of crackers to look like button holes. Bake 14 min. or until golden on edge, then serve.
